I got a Cricut for my birthday, and I am having so much fun learning how to use it! Check out this cute pillow box I made using a digital kit by Kristin Cronin-Barrow. I love how the layered paper flower turned out. I found some tutorials on YouTube that show how to make all kinds of paper flowers with a personal die cut machine. I can't wait to try out more of them!

I have a fun little card to share today. I used the latest image from Faith Skrdla called "April Showers", available at Designed2Delight digital stamps. I love this cute image! I tried something different with this card... I colored the image digitally in PSE (Photoshop Elements). That is AKA "the lazy crafter's coloring method"... hehe

The papers are from a grab bag by Plum Dumpling Designs that will be released tomorrow at ScrapMatters, and the sentiment is from Krisi's Kreations. It is also being released tomorrow at SM.

I am heading off to a field trip to see the movie "Oceans" with my twins and their 4th grade classes. They both made the honor roll, and their school does an honor roll field trip every quarter. Yay!

I just finished up another card for the latest challenge on the Designed2Delight blog. This image is called "Bunches", and it is available at Designed2Delight digital stamps. The papers are from a digital kit called Sunday Afternoon by Trixie Scraps and Sarah Bennett.

I had to laugh when I came upstairs with this card to photograph it. I was in a hurry to finish it up before the deadline, and I colored it downstairs where the lighting is not very good. I thought I could see okay at the time, but when I saw my card in good light, I realized the bear looks pretty bad! lol Oh well, if you squint he looks okay. I will have to try to do a touch up later...

Spring Peep

Hey there! Just stopping by to share my latest creation...

I really LOVE this adorable image by Faith Skrdla called "Spring Peep"! You can find this image and more at Designed2Delight digital stamps. I colored the image with a blender pen and the following Stampin' Up ink colors: So Saffron, Old Olive, Pink Passion, Soft Sky and Bashful Blue.

I also used the following digital supplies... Sunshine and Daffodils (elements), Sunshine and Daffodils (papers), Watercolor Papers and Snipettes: Springtime, all by Sahlin Studio. If you are into digital scrapbooking or hybrid papercrafting, you have got to check out Krista's store. She has so many gorgeous digital goodies!

Only a few more days left of Spring Break. The kids have enjoyed their time off school, but we sure have had some strange weather in the past week! Last Thursday and Friday, the temp got up into the 80's... highly unusual for Michigan in April. Then on Tuesday morning we had pouring rain and a thunderstorm with marble sized hail! There was flooding all over the place. Now today as I sit here and type this post, it has started snowing twice... but it only lasted a minute or two each time. Talk about strange! But that's Michigan for ya!

Spring Break is here...

Just a quick post today.... my kids are all home for Spring Break this week, so it is very busy around here! I managed to get this card done for the latest challenge at Designed2Delight. This image by Faith Skrdla is called Light of Life, and you can find it at Designed2Delight digital stamps.

I colored the image with my Prismacolor colored pencils and sponged in the sky with Soft Sky ink. Unfortunately, the colors look a bit washed out in the photo.

The digital papers I used are all from the Enchanted Sea kit by A+ Designs and Pixie Perfect Designs.

It is fairly simple, but I think it makes a nice masculine birthday card. So that's all for now... hope you have a great week!

It has been a couple of years now since I switched my focus from stamping to digital scrapbooking. My stamps have been sitting neglected for quite some time and I have even sold many of my sets. But I still enjoy making cards with my digital supplies, and digital stamps are a great new addition to my stash.

Here is the most recent card I made. I love how this turned out! The image (called Garden Fairy) is by Faith Skrdla from Designed2Delight digital stamps. She has tons of adorable images available in her shop... I was so excited to discover them recently!

I also used papers and elements from the Sisterly Love digital kit by Kristin Cronin-Barrow and Meghan Mullens.

Sweet baby buggy...

Hey there, crafters! I finished up a fun project today for a baby shower I will be attending this weekend... It turned out so cute, if I do say so myself! :) I made it with the Bouncing Baby Buggy template by Lauren Meader from My Time Made Easy. The template was so easy to use, and I love the results!

Another reason I love this template is because of it's versatility. You aren't limited to just a baby buggy. I have seen several different projects made using this same template... a boat, an easter basket, and a wheelbarrow. How cool is that!? I know I will get a ton of use from this template!

I used digital papers from Kristin Cronin-Barrows' Goody Two Shoes kit to decorate the buggy. I love the soft colors in this kit, so I knew it would be just right for my girly baby buggy.

For the finishing touches, I added satin ribbon around the middle of the buggy, white buttons on the wheels, and finally ric rac, brads, a paper flower and dew drop center to the buggy shade.

Here is a better view of the pretty little bow on the back...

Now I just have to find the perfect little gift to tuck inside and I will be ready for the baby shower. I think this will make the mom-to-be smile!

Hey there! Did you all have a wonderful iDSD? I didn't get to play as much as I wanted too, but I still managed to snag some kits that have been on my wish list, and I made a couple layouts too.

Here are some projects I have created in the recent past. Life is so busy, I have a hard time keeping my little bloggy up to date. But anyway, here are a few things...

My 9 year old son is an avid reader, so when Kristin Cronin-Barrow released Bookworm, I knew I would make something for him. I decided to do a simple little reading log, by covering a mini legal pad.

I was in the mood to scrap a layout one day, so I used the beautiful Autumn Spice kit by Penny Springmann, as well as her All Worn Out: Photograph and Paper Overlays 3 and Word Jumbles: Autumn. Fall is my favorite time of year, so this kit just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! LOL

Laura of simply.scraps is a guest designer at The Digichick for the month of November. She released this cute kit called Toot Toot Woo Woo at TDC to kick off her time there. I dug way back in my photos to find these of my oldest son who is now 13! I just love these pictures, though, and they were perfect for this kit!

Trixie Scraps recently released this collab with Golden Girls Digital Designs, called Work It! I love all the great elements in this kit, and it was perfect timing for me, as I have recently embarked on a healthy lifestyle change. I made a fitness journal to keep me motivated on my journey.

And finally, I made this cute little Halloween decoration using Ooky Spooky and All Boxed In template by Danielle Corbitt. I know we are switching gears for Christmas now, but this could easily be made into a fun Christmas project. How about JOY or NOEL blocks?

Photo wallet project

Hey there! I've been creating like mad, but I just realized I haven't posted any of my projects here in a while. Oops! So I guess it's time to rectify that...

I found this fun photo wallet tutorial over at Splitcoast Stampers. They have so many fun project ideas on their site. Here is how my first photo wallet turned out...

I made it using Indian Summer by Trixie Scraps:

I really love how it turned out, so I decided to make another, more girly photo wallet. This time I used Cherry Sweet by Kristin Cronin-Barrow. I still have to add the journaling on the inside flaps of this one.

This is a simple, cute project that would make a great little gift for a grandparent or another favorite friend or relative. Give it a try!

I've been busy working on more CT projects... here are the latest:

The first two layouts use School Girl Crush by simply.scraps. This kit is so much fun, I love the bright colors and unique elements...

And finally, here is my first project as a CT member for Kristin Cronin-Barrow. I decorated this mini clipboard using some beautiful papers and elements from the kit All About Her...

So cute, isn't it?! My daughter saw it and immediately claimed it as her own.

Well, the official announcement has been made, so I can let the cat out of the bag! Last week, Kristin Cronin-Barrow announced that she was having a CT call, so I decided to apply on a whim. I couldn't let it pass by without at least giving it a try, because I am absolutely in love with all of Kristin's designs! Well, guess what?! I made it!!!!! I am still in shock...

I will be doing hybrid projects as part of the KCB Crew. I will be posting my creations here soon!

I finished up a few CT projects this week, so I thought I'd share them here. I am doing hybrid projects for two teams now, and I am having so much fun with it! The first project I did was a little book to jot down all the things I am thankful for in life. I call it my Book of Blessings...

I used Autumn Spice by Penny Springmann, now available at Penny's Miscellany or SSD. This kit is just gorgeous!

Then next project was a few little Halloween treat packages using the fun and funky Cute Lil' Punkin by Trixie Scraps, which is available at ScrapMatters. I made a couple matchbook treat holders and a candy bar pull treat. You can find the tutorial for the pull treat here.

I also did this layout using the adorable Frank the Frog by simply.scraps. You can pick up the elements, papers, and alpha for just $1.00 each during the Gotta Grab It Event at Gotta Pixel, which runs today throught 10/13.

My Fair Lady...

If you made it this far, here is my hybrid project I just finished up today using My Fair Lady. I just love how it turned out! The unfinished wood frame is from Michael's.

I painted the edges with white acrylic paint, traced around the frame onto the back of the yellow patterned paper that I had printed, then cut it out and adhered to the frame. I printed the flower, ric rac and tag separately. I cut them out, arranged them on the front just so, then adhered them also. And that's all there is to it... hope you like it!

I am super excited to announce that I am now on the CT for Penny Springmann designs! I applied for her call on a whim, and I am still shocked that I was chosen. I will be doing hybrid projects for her team. What an honor! Penny is the first designer I have CT'd for that sells at the Sweet Shoppe, so now I will be spending more time there. It is a super fun community!

Round 4 of the Battle of the CTs over at DigiScrap Addicts is now complete and open for voting! I can hardly believe a month has already passed and we're winding this competition down - it has been so much fun!! My team and I are keeping our fingers crossed that we do really well in the voting this week and we can't wait to see who wins the big prize!

This week, our challenge was titled "Inspiration Found." Our task was to choose two layouts from our battle team mates and scraplift them both, in some way. So, we all got together and chose the team mates we each wanted to scraplift and got to work! Round 3 of the Battle of the CTs over at DigiScrap Addicts is now complete and open for voting! Wow, this battle is going by so fast! This round was fun, but a real challenge. Round 3 was titled "Scrap By Numbers." Each team had to come up with a formula to scrap by, using the numbers 1-10. Each number corresponded with the number of a certain item which had to be used on the page. We were having such a hard time coming up with a list, we had Trixie Scraps herself challenge us with a list... after a couple tweaks, we had the perfect formula! Our team decided on a theme of "10 Things I Love About ..." and then we could each choose our subject.

Here was the formula we each followed:
10 fonts
9 buttons
8 pieces of stitching
7 flowers
6 papers
5 strings
4 ribbons
3 glitter splats
2 alphas
1 photo

Round 2 of the Battle of the CTs over at DigiScrap Addicts is now complete! This round was so much fun - the task was called "I've Got Rhythm" and our layouts had to have a musical theme - all five of our teams' layouts had to have the same theme, too! So, my team decided to use a Celine Dion song called "If I Could." We each took a verse of the song that we felt applied to us, included the coda somewhere on the page, and scrapped photos of our children. Then, we each wrote some heartfelt journaling to our kids and told them what the verse from the song meant to us. Our team pages came out AWESOME!! Here is a look at each of them:

Boy, this is such a busy time of year, isn't it? I didn't realize it's been 11 days since I posted anything here. My youngest had his preschool graduation today. My other 3 still have a couple weeks of school, but there is a lot going on in those last couple weeks!

Hybrid baby gift and a layout...

I recently posted about taking a hybrid creative team position for Trixie Scraps. Here is my most recent project. This uses A Rainbow Promise collab by Trixie Scraps and Ellie Lash. I picked up the paint can at Michael's with a 40% off coupon. Gotta love those coupons!

I made this for a baby gift for my son's 3rd grade teacher. I filled it with a cute little outfit and some baby bath supplies. I love how it turned out, and Noah's teacher really like it too!

This is actually my first true hybrid project, so it was a learning experience. I printed the yellow pattern paper on multi purpose printer paper, and then adhered it to cardstock to make it sturdier. I would have printed on matte photo paper, but my printer kept jamming! I'm still trying to figure out why it won't print on the photo paper, but I think it looks decent on the regular printer paper. I created the bracket panel in photoshop, added the brown and cream papers and the giraffe image, printed and then cut out the panel. I used the terrificly tacky tape to assemble, then added the ribbon, flowers and buttons. I made a little matching card too...

I did this layout for a NSD template challenge. My twins are 8 years old now, it's hard to believe they were ever that small!

Hi there! I've recovered from the busy NSD weekend, so I'm finally back to post again. I needed a few days to recuperate. LOL I had so much fun participating in the challenges at Digital Candy, and I can't believe I finished 13 layouts over the weekend. That is definitely a record for me! I will post them here over the next week or two.

But first I want to post this layout before I forget. I created this with Adventures Ahead, a recent collab by A+ Designs and Bekah E Designs. I love this kit... I'm always on the lookout for cute, boy-ish kits (since I have 3 boys in my house), and this kit is just what I need!

Hi all ~ I hope you had a wonderful weekend! It rained a lot here, but things are really starting to green up outside, so it's not so bad. And I keep telling myself it's MUCH better than snow!

I had a wonderful time on vacation in NC. I couldn't get enough of the beautiful sunshine! We spent a week with our best friends, the kids (all 7 of them!) played great together, my oldest celebrated his 13th birthday while we were there.... it was a fantastic week!

On the way down there, I actually got a chance to do one scrapbook page. My hubby bought a power converter so we could use my laptop. Mostly, it was used for watching DVDs, but here is the page I created while I had the chance...

Oops, I forgot to come back to post my B page, but here it is... finally! This is Noah when he was just a little guy; now he is 8 years old, but still as sweet as ever! For this page, I used the Mod Turtle kit by Duchess Designs. I love the stitched circle overlay and the darling turtle in the kit.

I haven't created much lately... I've been too busy getting ready for our vacation. We are leaving for North Carolina on Saturday. We'll have six people and our dog packed in our minivan for a 16 -18 hour trip. Yikes! That's what family memories are made of, right?! LOL

I might actually be able to do some scrapbooking in the car on our trip (I *LOVE* digital scrapbooking!), but we'll see how it goes, I guess!

The kit I used is a freebie from Krystal Hartley called The Sky is Falling. You can find it on her blog. Isn't it cute? I love the colors, they went perfectly with my photo of Jacob. And the elements in this mini kit are just so fun. I *heart* that owl!

My first speed scrap!

I joined in my first speed scrap at Enchanted Studio Scraps on Friday night. It was so much fun! For those of you who aren't familiar with them, it is a scrapbooking event that usually lasts 2 hours. For the first hour, you get one new instruction every 10 minutes. Then the second hour is for you to complete your layout according to the instructions.

And this is my resulting layout based on these 7 instructions:

1. Place one photo on the corner of your page

2. Use 3 papers (1 plain, 2 pattern)

3. Add a round element, halfway off the page (can be duplicated)

4. Use stitching to anchor your photo

5. Add one flourish

6. Use the name of a song for your title

7. Add 2 more elements, add journaling and date if desired

I think it turned out pretty nicely, but it was quite a challenge for me! I rarely scrap without a template and never under time constraints. I love scrapping challenges, though... they help me to try new things. I look forward to the next speed scrap at ESS!

The challenge, called What's in the Enchanted Forest, was to use 3 pictures, 2 frames, glitter, stitching and dots on your layout. Somehow I squeezed them all on there! I love how it turned out....

Hi there,

I'm back to share another recent layout I created. I used a template to create this page, which is what I do 98% of the time. I love templates, I'm addicted to them! They make creating pages fun and simple. This particular template is from Bree Clarkson. It contains all the layers, then you can customize it with any papers and elements you want. Another nice thing about templates: you don't have to follow them exactly, you can put a twist on them to make them your own.

The papers and elements I used are from a new kit by Danielle Corbitt called Sweet on You, which is coming soon. Danielle's products are currently available at the following stores: Digital Candy, SOTB, Pickleberry Pop, and a new store, Enchanted Studio Scraps, which will be opening on January 15.

The fonts used for the title and journaling are CK Ali's handwriting and Georgia.

I love how this turned out! This was hubby and I celebrating our 14th anniversary last spring, and now we are coming up on 15 years. Wow, where has the time gone?!

I am so excited... I finished crocheting this scarf for Abby a couple days ago, and I think it turned out great! This is my first attempt at crocheting, so I'm pretty proud of myself. It took me quite a few tries and a little help from my mom-in-law to get the first granny square right, but after that it went pretty quickly. Thanks for your help, Virginia!

Here is Abby modeling her new scarf. I am so glad she likes it! Now I have to finish the matching hat... oh, how I wish there were a few extra hours in a day, LOL!

A Year of Birthdays

I made this birthday calendar a while back using Danielle Corbitt's A Year of Birthdays calendar templates. I also used several of her digital kits to design the pages. Didn't it turn out cute? Now I just have to print out the pages and put it together. Unfortunately, my printer is having issues with printing on photo paper or cardstock. Hopefully I can figure out the problem, because a new printer is not in the budget right now!

A calendar like this would make a nice gift, and the great thing is that it can be used year after year. Danielle's template set made this quick and easy to create! Click on the photos if you want a closer look....

Now that the holidays are over, I finally have time to delve into some digiscrapping again. Boy, have I missed it! I am on Danielle Corbitt's CT, and she has a bunch of new digi stuff coming out soon, so I have lots of new goodies to work with....

This is the desktop wallpaper I created for my computer. This uses one of Danielle's kits that was released in December, called Snow Angel.

Here is one with Danielle's new kit, Just A Girl, which is coming soon. The template I used is by Brenda Smith Designs.

And here is another LO with the Just A Girl kit. I love the colors in this kit so much!

I just did this one today for the Pixie Pouch challenge at Enchanted Studio Scraps. The Winter Flurry add-on kit is by Trish H Designs. I love this photo of my son.... I'm having a hard time believing that he will be 13 next month!

Hello there! I am happily stamping away with my sister and two aunts tonight, so I got to play along with Kristina's Color challenge for this week. I LOVE the colors she chose, and the pin cushion that she used for the inspiration is too cute!

Here is the card I came up with for the challenge.... I really like how it turned out, but I think maybe I should have sponged the edge of the white background piece. (Sorry about the dark picture, but I wanted to get it uploaded before the challenge ended!)

Hey there, long time no post! Guess what? I actually made a card today, so I have something to post... Yay!

I've been following Kristina Werner's blog for a long, long time. I love her stamping style, it totally rocks! She does a weekly Color Inspiration challenge on her blog. I look for it every week, but I'm almost ashamed to say this is actually my first time to participate! I know, what's up with that?! Better late than never, I guess!

I love how it turned out! The stamp is from the Humorous Birthday set by Inkadinkadoo. I kept the card pretty simple and didn't add a lot of embellishments, because I have to mail it out today, and I don't want to have any issues with postage. This is for my Aunt Kate, who's turning 44 tomorrow. (Sorry, Kate! hee..hee..) I love this image and sentiment, and it fits her perfectly! She always knows how to have fun, and when I'm with her I always know I'll have fun too! She is not only my aunt, but a good friend as well. (Actually, she is only 10 years older than me, so she seems more like a sister or a cousin anyway.)

Well, I have to admit... I am a bit addicted to fast food. I go through the drive-thru on many days for lunch. I try to shake it up a bit by going to different places, LOL.... but my favorites are Taco Bell and Arby's. If I had to say which is my top favorite, I'd have to say Arby's... I think.

Speaking of which, I'm kind of hungry. Off to find some dinner!

Heart to Heart Challenge

I read about the Heart to Heart Challenge started by Cammie (Carolyn King) on her blog. You can read all about it here.

Cammie designed a stamp set called Whimsical Autumn, available at Gina K Designs. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Cammie's grandmother.

In addition to that, Cammie had the wonderful idea to encourage others to send a card to a caretaker of someone with Alzheimer's disease. Cammie is offering some amazing blog candy (worth over $1000.00) to one lucky person who sends a card. Check out the post on her blog for more info. There are some very generous companies and individuals involved!

My stepmother used to be a caretaker for an Alzheimer's patient for many years. From her experience I can say, it is a very difficult job. The caretakers really need encouragement. Here is the card I made to send to the nursing home where Cammie's grandmother used to live. I hope it brightens the staff's day just a little!

Twin baby gifts...

My DH's best friend and his wife had twin girls a couple weeks ago. I made this cute card for them using the retired Everyday Celebrations stamp set from SU and some retired SU designer paper. I wanted the two little lambs facing each other, so I did the reverse image using a solid stamp block I got at Hobby Lobby for just that purpose. You stamp your image on that solid rubber surface, then stamp on your card to get the reverse image. This little lamb is my favorite image for baby cards lately. I love how it looks all fluffy with Liquid Applique on it!

I also made these onesies for the babies. When our own twins were little, we had a bunch of funny T-shirts for them that made us laugh. We had some that said "See you later (with a pic of an alligator)" and "In a while (pic of crocodile)". Around Valentine's Day, we had t-shirts for Noah and Abby that said "Be Mine"... and the other one said "NO, Be Mine!". Anyway, that was my inspiration for the onesies. I designed the image in Photoshop, then printed it on iron on transfer paper. They say "Wonder Twin Powers Activate". LOL I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, especially since it was my first attempt with the iron on stuff!

We went to visit our friends and see the new babies this past Saturday. They were just so precious! It is amazing how quickly I forget just how tiny my own little ones were once upon a time. I loved holding and cuddling Kate and Ella, but I noticed that it didn't ignite this strong desire to have another baby myself. I think I'm finally past that, LOL!

Today on the Sweet Shoppe Blog, the topic of From Our Blog 2 Yours is "Could you be a vampire?" I think the whole world is vampire obsessed right now due to the huge popularity of the Twilight books by Stephenie Meyer. I have heard so much hype about these books, and STILL haven't read them. To be honest, I'm just not that into vampires, LOL! But my curiosity finally got the best of me, so I put a hold on the first book at my library. Who knows how long it will be before I get it! According to my library website, there are 456 holds on first copy returned of 208 copies. Holy Cow!

Hey there! I've been keeping busy, as usual, and I wanted to share some recent developments in my life...

In the last couple weeks, I have been asked to join the creative teams for two very talented digital designers. I can't tell you how excited and honored I am!! So now I am creating for Ferg Designs and Danielle Corbitt, yippee!! (Click on either name to see their store.) Both of them have stores at Digital Candy. I will be creating layouts to promote their new designs, as well as contributing to their blogs. I love the simplicity of the layout above. There is a lot of white space on the layout, meaning a lot of just the background showing. That seems to be one of the popular design styles right now, so I was having fun playing around with it. I showed it to my husband when I was done, and he says, "Yeah, it's nice... but you're going to fill up the rest of the page, right?" LOL

Hello.... anybody out there?? Boy, it's been a while since I've posted here! I haven't been stamping as much lately, although I still love it, and I will never give it up completely. (I have way too much invested in it, LOL!)

My focus has shifted a bit in the last few months to digital scrapbooking. I am having a great time learning all the tricks! I got into paper scrapbooking over ten years ago, and although I loved it, I found it to be overwhelming. After having four kids, it was tough to find the time for it. And I would get so frustrated when I wanted to sit down and scrap, but I didn't have the supplies I needed. I never had just the right paper or accents, KWIM? That's what is so great about digi scrapping! I can always find whatever I need online at any time of day or night. I also like the you can use the digi items over and over, as much as you want. You can *easily* make changes to your layout until you have it just right. Plus, there is no mess to clean up!

So I'm going to post a few of my digi layouts. In the future, I plan to share both my stamping and digiscrapping stuff here. Here are a couple of layouts I made recently:

Yippee! I can hardly believe it, but I just got an email saying that I won a prize in one of the Grand Opening contests at My Creative Classroom. Guess what it is....... $50.00 of Hambo Stamps!! I am super excited! They have some adorable images and really funny sentiments. I don't know if I will get a gift certificate or a pre-selected package of stamps, but either way... I am thrilled! Just had to share my joy with someone who might understand... LOL

My first squash book!

Here is a little project I made recently as a gift for my grandmother. It is called a squash book. This is the first one I have completed, but it was so much fun that I have several others in the works. I used this tutorial on SCS as a guide. Beate did a wonderful job giving step by step directions... I certainly couldn't explain it any better!

I adhered Enchante pattern paper on the chipboard coaster for a cover, and embellished it with a chipboard heart, buttons, ribbon and rick rack.

The inside is also finished off with coordinating Enchante designer papers, prima flowers and buttons, and some stamped definitions from the Define Your Life set.

I had a hard time trying to figure out how to embellish the inside. I didn't want to make it too bulky, so it would close properly. I wasn't 100% thrilled with it, but all in all - I'm happy with the results. And my grandma loved it, so that's all that matters!

I'm trying to do some challenges again over at Splitcoaststampers. The sketch challenge is posted every Wednesday, and I think that is my favorite challenge to participate in. It really helps give me direction when I create a card. Here is what I came up with for sketch challenge 160 (sc160) from last week:

My Creative Classroom...grand opening!

My favorite stamp.... for today!!

I made this card for a challenge over on Paper Princess at Play. The challenge is to make a card using your favorite stamp, and then you must send the card to someone this week. Well, it is definitely hard for me to pick one favorite stamp or set... there are just so many wonderful choices. I usually gravitate to my newer stamps, but can you believe I don't have any sets from the new SU catalog yet! My first order is actually due to arrive on Monday. (Yippee!)

Anyway, this set just retired in June, but it is new to me. I really love it! I cased this card from steubner on SCS... I just changed the color combo and a few minor details. The colors I used are Old Olive, Ruby Red, So Saffron and Chocolate Chip. The stamp sets I used are Mixed Bouquet, Itty Bitty Backgrounds, and Small Sayings. The So Saffron paper is from my Palette O' Prints pack. Now I just have to decide who will be the lucky recipient of this card....

Tickled Pink

I love this flamingo from the Tickled Pink stamp set. It is just so adorable! I don't actually own this set, this is one of the images I received from a Wish-RAK friend. The sketch I used is one I found at Mama Dini's Stamperia. Dina is having a sketch challenge contest, check it out here.

That's all for now... my daughter is begging me to take her shopping for the last few school supplies we need.
Our school starts on September 4, not long now! Mom is really ready, and I think the kids are starting to look forward to it too. :)

Another Beate sketch

This is a 5X5 card I made recently for Beate's sketch challenge. I used my Basic Grey Lily Kate pattern paper, along with SU Bashful Blue cardstock. The Bubble Queen image is watercolored, and I added stickles to the bubbles. It looks so sparkly in person! The "stitching" around the green floral panel was added with the All In A Row stamp set, and the sentiment is from Noteworthy. I love how it turned out!

I had a family birthday party to attend over the weekend. My cousin Kelsey turned 11. She feels more like a niece to me, though, because of the age difference. My oldest son is actually 6 months older than her. Anyway, I asked her mom if she had any ideas for a gift for Kelsey, or if she would rather have cash. Cash was the answer, which totally works for me, because it's just so darn easy. I altered this notebook to give her along with the cash, because I just love altering notebooks and journals of any kind. I figured that type of thing is perfect for an 11 year old girl, too. I think she liked it!

On another note, I have been giving some thought to my blog. I have kind of lost the drive to post consistently. I enjoy looking at so many other blogs, but I don't feel like I have anything new to offer. So I may just post less frequently or take a break altogether, I haven't really decided yet. Just thought I'd mention it, in case anyone wonders where I went. Maybe things will change again once school starts, and I have more time to breathe... :)

A fun layout

I have recently added a TON of stamping blogs to my Google reader so I can actually keep up with them, instead of reading hit and miss, and then trying to remember where I saw some wonderful inspiration...

One of those blogs is Mama Dini's Stamperia. I found a super cute card on her blog, you can see it here. I knew right away that I had to case the card layout, because of it's simplicity and the fun way it shows off pattern paper. It is a basic A2 size card, but you just trim an inch off the right side of the top panel.

So here are a couple cards I created using that layout. The first card uses a Penny Black hedgehog stamp and double sided pattern paper from Bo Bunny. The sentiment is from the retired Stampin' Up set Small Sayings.

The second card uses the Sweeter Treaters set from Stampin' Up, which is also retired. I rarely make Halloween cards, but I happened to see a really cute card in Stamp It! cards magazine last summer, and I decided I had to have the set. I got a decent deal on ebay off season, so I figured I better put the set to use. I just picked this Halloween paper up at Hobby Lobby. The bat paper is from Frances Meyer, and the stripes and spooky words paper are both from KI Memories.

So there you have it! Two ideas for this fun layout. I know this is one I will definitely use again and again.

A wish granted....

This beautiful card was sent to me by Kathleen Curry. The different shades of purple are all textured cardstock. The butterfly is stamped in silver ink on the left panel... it looks so very pretty in person. And I love how Kathy tied the ribbon, doesn't it look nice?

I had posted a wish for some images from the Send a Celebration set recently in the Wish-RAK forum. Kathy surprised me by sending the complete set, new and unmounted! Wow... Thanks, Kathy!

I can't wait to play with my new stamps... I'll have to post something using the set soon. But for now, I'm off to catch some zzzz's. Goodnight, everone!

Wish big!

Here's a card I made a while ago, that hasn't been posted yet. This is a Buckle Card, it's really fun and easy to make... here is a great tutorial by Beate with detailed instructions.

The colors were inspired by the striped pattern paper that I used from my sister's stash. I love this combo, it just seems cheerful and spunky to me. The colors are Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, and Eggplant Envy (retired) from Stampin' Up.

The stamp sets that were used are Living Large, Seeing Spots, and Small Script - all from Stampin' Up. The main image was watercolored, and the cake image popped up on dimensionals. I love the final results!

I participated in the Altered August exchange this month. Look at all the wonderful goodies I got from ginapier! She altered a lunch tin for me, a cute little notebook, and a hanging picture frame ornament. On top of that, she sent tons of ribbon, embossing powder, clear stamps, brads, a photo album, an Inkadinkadoo stamp set, paper flowers, Bella images galore, and some adorable frog and ladybug stickers! It's so much fun being spoiled by a fellow stamper.

This card is for the July Wish-RAK card contest - Category #2. The card had to include Wish-RAK images and a tag with sentiment on it. The images are from the SU Loads of Love set, and the paper is more of my recent favorite... Magnolia by My Mind's Eye.

I made this card for a very good friend of mine who moved away several years ago. We have been friends since we were 12 years old.... hard to believe that's been 20 years now! We spent so much time together growing up, we were more like sisters. I miss her terribly, but whenever we get together, it's as if nothing has changed. It takes a little more effort now to maintain our friendship, but we are definitely friends for the long haul!

Here is another card for my Wild About You series. This giraffe is so cute; I've seen some darling baby cards made with it. My card is something simple I whipped up, since I only had a short amount of time to play.

The card measures 3x6. The base is a piece of 6x6 Making Memories double-sided paper, folded in half. It is called Downtown Dot from the Cosmopolitan Collection. The paper is very heavy, almost like cardstock ~ so it works great for a card base.

The sentiment is from Small Sayings, a retired Stampin' Up set. I just got this set off the Buy/Sell/Trade forum on SCS. I saw a couple adorable cards in the gallery, so I HAD to have it, LOL! Can you believe, after using that particular sentiment once, the stamp has gone missing!? (I don't know if I should blame myself, or one of my four kids...) Let me tell ya, it's driving me bonkers!! Well, hopefully it will turn up one of these days.

I've been busy finishing up some Christmas cards for a swap I joined. It's hard to think Christmas when it's a sticky, hot 93 degree day... but hey, at least I'll have lots of cards ready when I need 'em!

Patriotic birthday

To celebrate the third birthday of the Splitcoast Fan Club, SCS is hosting a week of challenges for all Fan Club members. It started this past Wednesday and continues until Tuesday.

I have checked out the challenges each day, but this is the only one I have completed so far. I look forward to doing a bunch more, when I can fit it in... This challenge was a sketch from Julia S.

This card is also for the July Wish-RAK card contest, to create a birthday card with a red/white/blue color combo using an image received through the Wish -RAK group. What better time to use this little patriotic chick, right? I colored the image in using a blender pen. I put stickles on his sparkler, it looks so cute in person. On the inside of the card I stamped, "Hope your day really sparkles!". Now I'll just have to wait until next year to give this to some lucky person with a July birthday, LOL!

Are you sick of this set yet?

I know you're probably getting bored with Wild About You cards by now. But I'm still working at the challenge I gave myself to do 10 cards with this set. This is only #3, so I have a quite a few to go yet. I'll try to throw some other things in here and there, I promise!

I kind of struggled with this card, which seems silly now, because it's not a complicated card. It took me so long to find the "right" layout for the strips of paper and image, etc. In the end, I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I sponged Chocolate Chip ink on the Tempting Turquoise cardstock to tone it down, and give it kind of a shabby look. I also distressed the Chocolate Chip cardstock around the main image to go along with that, and the strip of Ruby Red cardstock along the bottom was pierced with my paper piercer.

One last note... I saw how Beate was using this stamp from All in a Row to look like stitching, and I loved it! My attempt doesn't look nearly as good because I was having *issues* with lining it up, but I still like how it looks.

Yippee, my blog passed 1000 hits today! Not bad, since I just added the counter at the end of June. (Couldn't figure out the silly thing before that, but hey, I'm learning something everyday!) Thanks to everyone who visits... and thanks for the comments too!
