Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration #33

Hey there, long time no post! Guess what? I actually made a card today, so I have something to post... Yay!

I've been following Kristina Werner's blog for a long, long time. I love her stamping style, it totally rocks! She does a weekly Color Inspiration challenge on her blog. I look for it every week, but I'm almost ashamed to say this is actually my first time to participate! I know, what's up with that?! Better late than never, I guess!
Here is the inspiration Kristina gave us this week:

And here's my card:

I love how it turned out! The stamp is from the Humorous Birthday set by Inkadinkadoo. I kept the card pretty simple and didn't add a lot of embellishments, because I have to mail it out today, and I don't want to have any issues with postage. This is for my Aunt Kate, who's turning 44 tomorrow. (Sorry, Kate! hee..hee..) I love this image and sentiment, and it fits her perfectly! She always knows how to have fun, and when I'm with her I always know I'll have fun too! She is not only my aunt, but a good friend as well. (Actually, she is only 10 years older than me, so she seems more like a sister or a cousin anyway.)

Happy Birthday, Kate!! Hope you have a great day!

The Jack-o-Lantern Quiz

On the Sweet Shoppe Designs blog, for the From Our Blog to Yours post, we were asked to take The Jack-o-Lantern Quiz. Here are my results:

What Your Jack-o-Lantern Says

You are a naturally cheerful, happy go lucky person.

You're the type of person to see Halloween through the eyes of a child.

Mmmm.... I want some ice cream!

It's Thursday again, which means it is time to participate in From Our Blog To Yours at the SSD blog. This week the quiz is about your Ice Cream Personality. Here are my results:

Your Ice Cream Personality:
You like to think of yourself as a fairly modest person. And it's true that you don't talk yourself up... but you're also pretty happy with who you are.

You are incredibly cautious. You rather miss out on something than make a mistake. No one would ever call you wild... but they would call you responsible.

You are a fairly open minded person with a wide range of tastes. You are quite accepting of unusual ideas and people.

You tend to have a one track mind. You prefer not to multitask.

You can be a big dramatic and over the top sometimes. You are bold in every way

Fast Food fanatic

This week at the Sweet Shoppe blog, the topic of discussion for From Our Blog to Yours is "your favorite fast food".

Well, I have to admit... I am a bit addicted to fast food. I go through the drive-thru on many days for lunch. I try to shake it up a bit by going to different places, LOL.... but my favorites are Taco Bell and Arby's. If I had to say which is my top favorite, I'd have to say Arby's... I think.

Speaking of which, I'm kind of hungry. Off to find some dinner!

Have a great weekend!

Heart to Heart Challenge

I read about the Heart to Heart Challenge started by Cammie (Carolyn King) on her blog. You can read all about it here.

Cammie designed a stamp set called Whimsical Autumn, available at Gina K Designs. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Cammie's grandmother.

In addition to that, Cammie had the wonderful idea to encourage others to send a card to a caretaker of someone with Alzheimer's disease. Cammie is offering some amazing blog candy (worth over $1000.00) to one lucky person who sends a card. Check out the post on her blog for more info. There are some very generous companies and individuals involved!

My stepmother used to be a caretaker for an Alzheimer's patient for many years. From her experience I can say, it is a very difficult job. The caretakers really need encouragement. Here is the card I made to send to the nursing home where Cammie's grandmother used to live. I hope it brightens the staff's day just a little!

Twin baby gifts...

My DH's best friend and his wife had twin girls a couple weeks ago. I made this cute card for them using the retired Everyday Celebrations stamp set from SU and some retired SU designer paper. I wanted the two little lambs facing each other, so I did the reverse image using a solid stamp block I got at Hobby Lobby for just that purpose. You stamp your image on that solid rubber surface, then stamp on your card to get the reverse image. This little lamb is my favorite image for baby cards lately. I love how it looks all fluffy with Liquid Applique on it!

I also made these onesies for the babies. When our own twins were little, we had a bunch of funny T-shirts for them that made us laugh. We had some that said "See you later (with a pic of an alligator)" and "In a while (pic of crocodile)". Around Valentine's Day, we had t-shirts for Noah and Abby that said "Be Mine"... and the other one said "NO, Be Mine!". Anyway, that was my inspiration for the onesies. I designed the image in Photoshop, then printed it on iron on transfer paper. They say "Wonder Twin Powers Activate". LOL I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, especially since it was my first attempt with the iron on stuff!

We went to visit our friends and see the new babies this past Saturday. They were just so precious! It is amazing how quickly I forget just how tiny my own little ones were once upon a time. I loved holding and cuddling Kate and Ella, but I noticed that it didn't ignite this strong desire to have another baby myself. I think I'm finally past that, LOL!

Flying fingers... not!

Vampire obsession

Today on the Sweet Shoppe Blog, the topic of From Our Blog 2 Yours is "Could you be a vampire?" I think the whole world is vampire obsessed right now due to the huge popularity of the Twilight books by Stephenie Meyer. I have heard so much hype about these books, and STILL haven't read them. To be honest, I'm just not that into vampires, LOL! But my curiosity finally got the best of me, so I put a hold on the first book at my library. Who knows how long it will be before I get it! According to my library website, there are 456 holds on first copy returned of 208 copies. Holy Cow!

Anyway, here are the results from the quiz I took:

You Could Not Be a Vampire

Sorry, but you're not just cut out for flesh eating, turning into a bat, and living forever.

But that's okay. The sight of blood turns your stomach... without even thinking of drinking it.

And while you definitely would never be a vampire, you're exactly the type of frail prey Dracula wannabe's crave.

Maybe it's time to arm yourself with a cross and some nasty garlic breath!

What you would like best about being a vampire: The raw power (though you wouldn't admit it to anyone)

What you would like least about being a vampire: The whole killing thing

No surprise there! :)

How REAL are you?

I'm playing along with the Sweet Shoppe Designs "From Our Blog To Yours" game. This quiz is supposed to tell you how real you are. So here are my results:

You Are 60% Real

You're pretty real with people, but you can't help hiding a good part of yourself.

You're not truly happy with who you are at times... and believe it or not, it shows.

Try not to hide parts of your life from the people who matter to you.

Your friends and family are probably a lot more accepting than you realize!

Crayola Color Quiz

Crayola Color Quiz

How well do you know the names of all the crayola colors? I just took the quiz on their website, here are my results:

You named all 64 colors with 20 mistakes.

Not great, but I actually thought I would do worse...LOL! The kids' choice ones really stumped me... I'd never heard of those.

Give it a try yourself, can you beat my score?!

Grease: the Movie

I took this quiz about the movie Grease, for the From Our Blog To Yours game at Sweet Shoppe Designs. Wow, I bombed the quiz! I know I've seen Grease before, but it was a l-o-n-g time ago when I was a kid. Plus, I just have a terrible memory when it comes to those kinds of things. Here are my results:

You have just accomplished the test 'Grease. It\'s The Word' on with the following results:

Getting there..

You have correctly answered 7 of 15 questions.

On average, 839 of users who took the quiz gave 11.44 right answers.

Yep, this one is right on for me! It's amazing what having four kids will do to your brain cells, though...

You may have been a bit of a geek back then, but now you're a total success!

I got 95%, not too shabby. So why does it bug me so much that I got one wrong?! LOL I have always been good at spelling, and when I see something spelled incorrectly, it jumps off the page at me...

Toot toot!!

Hey there! I've been keeping busy, as usual, and I wanted to share some recent developments in my life...

In the last couple weeks, I have been asked to join the creative teams for two very talented digital designers. I can't tell you how excited and honored I am!! So now I am creating for Ferg Designs and Danielle Corbitt, yippee!! (Click on either name to see their store.) Both of them have stores at Digital Candy. I will be creating layouts to promote their new designs, as well as contributing to their blogs. If you want to see what we're up to there, you can check out those blogs at Ferg Designs blog and Star Studded Designs Creative Team blog. I hope to post some of my projects here as well...

Here are a couple of my recent layouts:

I love the simplicity of the layout above. There is a lot of white space on the layout, meaning a lot of just the background showing. That seems to be one of the popular design styles right now, so I was having fun playing around with it. I showed it to my husband when I was done, and he says, "Yeah, it's nice... but you're going to fill up the rest of the page, right?" LOL

And here's another from a couple weeks ago...

Well, that's all I have for now... have a great week!

I've crossed over to the digi world....

Hello.... anybody out there?? Boy, it's been a while since I've posted here! I haven't been stamping as much lately, although I still love it, and I will never give it up completely. (I have way too much invested in it, LOL!)

My focus has shifted a bit in the last few months to digital scrapbooking. I am having a great time learning all the tricks! I got into paper scrapbooking over ten years ago, and although I loved it, I found it to be overwhelming. After having four kids, it was tough to find the time for it. And I would get so frustrated when I wanted to sit down and scrap, but I didn't have the supplies I needed. I never had just the right paper or accents, KWIM? That's what is so great about digi scrapping! I can always find whatever I need online at any time of day or night. I also like the you can use the digi items over and over, as much as you want. You can *easily* make changes to your layout until you have it just right. Plus, there is no mess to clean up!

So I'm going to post a few of my digi layouts. In the future, I plan to share both my stamping and digiscrapping stuff here. Here are a couple of layouts I made recently:

Well, that's it for now, but I hope to post some more fun stuff soon! Have a great night!

Yippee! I can hardly believe it, but I just got an email saying that I won a prize in one of the Grand Opening contests at My Creative Classroom. Guess what it is....... $50.00 of Hambo Stamps!! I am super excited! They have some adorable images and really funny sentiments. I don't know if I will get a gift certificate or a pre-selected package of stamps, but either way... I am thrilled! Just had to share my joy with someone who might understand... LOL

Have a great weekend!

My first squash book!

Here is a little project I made recently as a gift for my grandmother. It is called a squash book. This is the first one I have completed, but it was so much fun that I have several others in the works. I used this tutorial on SCS as a guide. Beate did a wonderful job giving step by step directions... I certainly couldn't explain it any better!

I adhered Enchante pattern paper on the chipboard coaster for a cover, and embellished it with a chipboard heart, buttons, ribbon and rick rack.

The inside is also finished off with coordinating Enchante designer papers, prima flowers and buttons, and some stamped definitions from the Define Your Life set.

I had a hard time trying to figure out how to embellish the inside. I didn't want to make it too bulky, so it would close properly. I wasn't 100% thrilled with it, but all in all - I'm happy with the results. And my grandma loved it, so that's all that matters!

You're an angel!

I'm trying to do some challenges again over at Splitcoaststampers. The sketch challenge is posted every Wednesday, and I think that is my favorite challenge to participate in. It really helps give me direction when I create a card. Here is what I came up with for sketch challenge 160 (sc160) from last week:

Yippee, I got to play with some new stamp images from Stampin' Up! This set is called If the Halo Fits. Isn't it adorable?! I got these images from the Wish-RAK forum on SCS.

Supplies (all SU unless noted)-
paper: bashful blue, barely banana, pretty in pink, regal rose, white
ink: same as paper plus blush blossom and creamy caramel
stamps: If the Halo Fits
accessories: Cuttlebug D'vine Swirls embossing folder, ribbon
